A lot of people are now claiming that they will never eat at Jimmy John’s restaurant after several photos showing the owner of the company posing with animals killed on trophy hunting expeditions surfaced online.
The Real Story
According to Business Insider, Jimmy John Liataud visited Africa on several occasions to take part in big game hunting. He hunted elephants, leopards, rhinos, and zebras. On the photo below, he is posing with an endangered black rhino. The license he purchased in order to kill the beast reportedly cost $350,000.
On the Verge of Extinction
Between 2011 and 2014, poachers killed 100,000 elephants and according to National Geographic, the popularity of beasts among game hunters has led to their extinction. Experts hold that elephants could be completely extinct in Africa by 2020.
